1    package (18 ˝  ounces) yel­low cake mix

˝  cup butter or margarine, melted

1    egg

1    cup chopped pecans


Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for Filling.

Combine remaining dry cake mix in large mixing bowl until crumbly. Press mixture into generously greased (bot­tom and sides) 13x9 inch bak­ing pan.

Bake in 350-degree oven, for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown. Meanwhile, pre­pare Filling.

Pour Filling over partially baked crust. Sprinkle with pe­cans. Return to oven.

Bake 30 to 35 minutes longer until Filling is set. Cool. Cut into 36 bars.

Yield: 3 dozen.


2/3   cup reserved cake mix

˝     cup brown sugar, packed

1 ˝  cups dark corn syrup

1      teaspoon vanilla

3    eggs

Combine all ingredients in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes.
